HOW IT WORKS
Friendsheep Eco Dryer Balls will soak up moisture in your dryer by absorbing up to 30% of its weight in water. Plus, their movement in the dryer will help separate your clothes and sheets allowing air and heat to circulate and dry them faster. As your laundry dries, the dryer balls will fluff and evenly redistribute humidity in the dryer eliminating wrinkles, reducing static cling, and providing a softer feel to your fabrics. The result is a quicker drying time, and softer and more manageable laundry, all with less energy used, and more money in your pocket.
HOW TO USE
For best results toss all your Frlendsheep balls in the dryer. We recommend using 3+ balls for small and medium loads or 6+ balls for larger loads, but remember, the more balls you use, the faster your drying time, and the softer your laundry.
On the first use (but only on the first one!) we suggest using your wool balls on a matching load: whites for white balls, or blacks for black balls. No matching load? Just slightly dampen the wool balls and let them run in your empty dryer for a short heated cycle (about 10 minutes). Since your Friendsheep Eco Dryer Balls are handmade from the purest, softest organic wool, when brand new they might have a few loose fibers on their surface, which may result in slight lint on their first use. After the first cycle, you can use your wool balls on any kind of load: dark, black, colored, or white, they will never lint.
Always use a moisture-sensitive setting on your dryer. Do not over-dry, or you will produce static ding. Overdrying and overloading are the most common causes of static cling.
Store your Frlendsheep Eco Dryer Balls In a well-ventilated area. Never store them in plastic.
If your balls show pilling this is normal, it means that they are working. They will not pill on your clothes. That said, if you prefer you can gently pull the pills off.
For fresh-scented laundry add a few drops {3-5) of your favorite essential oil to two Friendsheep wool balls before each cycle. Allow absorption for a few minutes, then toss them in the dryer with your laundry. For maximum scent effect add the essential oils towards the end of your cycle, 10 minutes before the end, on a low heat setting.
If your Friendsheep Eco Dryer Balls feature a pattern, we suggest dropping the essential oil on the darker part of the design. This way the essential oil will not stain our woof balls. If you want to use different essential oils on different loads - for clothes, bedding, or a scent for each family member - get a few different sets of Friendsheep Eco Dryer Balls. We have tons of cute patterns and colors, choose a different scent for each set and dry away.
WASHING YOUR ECO DRYER BALLS
Eco Dryer Balls are hand felted with hot water and vegetable soap using only clean pre-washed and pre-carded organic wool. No scent is ever added.
Therefore they don't need to be pre-washed and are ready and safe to use.
If at some point you need to wash your dryer balls, we suggest washing them by hand with a mild soap in lukewarm water. Then dry them as you like. Do not machine wash them - unless necessary - because hot water for a prolonged time tends to loosen the woof fibers and damage the wool felt, eventually reducing your dryer balls’ lifetime.
ECO-FRIENDLY TIPS TO REDUCE ADDITIONAL STATIC CLING
Especially indicated for synthetic fibers like rayon, polyester, fleece, etc.
In your washer:
Sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda over your laundry before starting your wash cycle. Add a 1/2 cup of white vinegar to your rinse cycle.
In your dryer:
Set dryer time less than you normally do as over-drying causes static cling.
Reuse clean aluminum foil by rolling it into two 2-inch-sized balls, then toss them in our dryer along with your wool balls. They may be a bit loud but can help ulteriorly reduce static cling.
Since friction between synthetic fabrics (rayon, polyester, fleece, etc.} is the major source of static, it's a good habit to separate synthetic loads from natural fibers loads (silk, cotton, linen). This way you will avoid any static cling on your natural fabric loads - think most sheets, towels, and jeans, as well as silk, linen, and cotton clothes.
